DIFFRENTIAL GROWTH

NON-LAYERED, NON-HOMOGENOUS BIO-PLASTIC 3D PRINTING

Type: Design Research
Status: 1:1 prototype
Duration: January - May 2018
Team: Hseng Tai Lintner, Marcos Dana, Jinsoo Kim, Runze Zhang, Yo Tomoura

Description:
The research explores non-layered 3D printing using re-usable CNC molds as well as air-printing which requires no mold. Unlike conventional striated 3D printing which requires a disposable scaffold, this method enables the pritning of surfaces and volumes without cartesian layering, freeing up the extrusion path for alternative forms of patterning/surface articulation and material agency.
